What's happening: Tamalpais Union High School District spent $75,659 on legal fees tied to California Public Records Act requests in the 2025-26 fiscal year, up from an estimated annual average of about $14,000 in prior years, according to a presentation Superintendent Courtney Goode gave the board on Aug. 25. Request volume climbed alongside it: 3 requests in 2022-23, 29 the following year, 45 in 2024-25 and 81 in 2025-26. The district had already logged 43 more requests in the first 35 days of the current fiscal year, according to its own tracking chart.
