What’s happening: The city issued 128 building permits in September covering $10,994,665.69 in construction and renovation work, according to the city’s monthly permit activity report, with the city collecting $462,197.38 in fees. That’s a step down from August’s $15,352,486.28, the highest monthly valuation of the year, but above July’s $9,424,237.19.
Behind the numbers: No single September project came close to August’s scale, when three separate permits topped $2.5 million each. The largest September permit, a $3.73 million remodel and addition with a JADU conversion and pool on Magee Avenue, was more than four times the size of the next largest filing. Against June’s $11.6 million and July’s $9.4 million, September looks like a return to the pace the city held most of the year rather than a slowdown. The nine-month year-to-date total now stands at $90,777,249.40 across 1,134 permits.
