What's happening: The City Council gets its climate report card tonight, and part of the good news came from the weather. Mill Valley's emissions fell to 64,222 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2024, according to the greenhouse gas report the council is asked to accept.

That is 41% below 2005 and 31% below the city's estimate of 1990 levels. The Climate Action Plan sets a goal of 47% below 1990 by 2030, which the report says leaves 14,803 tons, or another 16%, to cut. Staff says it believes the goal is achievable. Accepting the findings has no direct fiscal impact, according to the staff report.

The 1990 figure is an estimate. California Air Resources Board guidance sets it at 15% below 2005.
