What’s happening: Chris Reiff retires from the Boyle Park tennis courts at the end of October. On Monday, Oct. 5, the City Council honored him with a proclamation. Two days later, the Parks and Recreation Commission voted 2-1 to approve BP Tennis LLC as his successor. The City Council is scheduled to decide Nov. 2.
The context: The proclamation says Reiff has been a steward of the Boyle Park program since 1988 and credits him with building a welcoming place where players of all ages and skill levels improve and make lasting friendships. It names the tournaments he hosted: the Cowbell, the Woody, the Blast, the Jr Discovery Challenger and the Ripe & Raw. It says he enjoyed the barbecues and “how everyone seemed to be having a good time.”
